Welcome to the Wise Assessment Forum

This forum serves as a platform for sharing wise assessment practices among faculty members at the University of Hong Kong and beyond.

The Wise Assessment Forum is a direct result of the on-going Community of Practice Project being undertaken in the Centre for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning (CETL) at the University of Hong Kong (HKU). The main aim of this project is to enhance undergraduate teaching and learning across the University and the wider higher education community in Hong Kong through the establishment of ‘communities of practice’, devoted to identifying, surfacing, synthesising, and sharing effective teaching and learning practices both locally and internationally.

If you want to be informed of the upcoming events and the latest news about this Community of Practice Project, please leave us your contact information.

Audiences

The forum is designed for all university teachers, academics, instructional designers and community partners that are interested in assessment and feedback. Teachers from HKU may find the case examples in the local context particularly relevant to their assessment design.

Wise Assessment

‘Wise assessment’ practices are those that enhance student learning, are well-attuned to subject and professional requirements, and make effective use of available resources. They evolve through everyday practice, reflection, experimentation and evaluation, informed by insights from elsewhere and by relevant research and scholarship.

Themes and Resources

Resources in this forum are organised under four themes: assessment in the Common Core Curriculum; assessing experiential learning; understanding standards; and high-impact feedback. Useful resources include briefings, case examples from HKU, and those from elsewhere.
